It is an Australian native. A callistemum from the family myrtaceae, related to the melaleuca. Some people confuse it with the banksia but it's family protaceae is completely different. I have several different callistemums in my front garden which is 100% Australian native.

It looks like a banksia... Common he in Oz, commonly called a bottle brush fur obvious reasons :)
