I Love Clothes Shopping
...for anyone other than myself. Babies and little kids? Sure, I love finding cool stuff. Carrying 100 bags for the ladies as they plow through the outlet mall? No worries.
In fact I love shopping for ladies things. I could spend all day going store to store with my girlfriend. Dress shopping, shoe shopping, purse shopping, heck sweatpants shopping. All fun.
For me, though, I put it off and put it off. The last time I bought new dress pants was because I had no choice. I broke the zipper of the old ones and had to replace them. And of course I just wanted to replace them with the exact same ones. But, that’s not how fashion works. Especially since I don’t know how many years ago I bought those pants...
Part of my reluctance to shop for myself it is that men’s clothes are boring by comparison. But most of it comes from hating being the center of attention. I’m way better looking in my head than I am in real life. The department store lights and multi-mirrors are cold confirmation of that fact. So even when I find the perfect outfit, I still walk away from the experience discomfited.
