I Have A Mobile Phone

I think in another fifty years Nokia 3310s will become sentient. Their battery life is long enough, if any are still surviving.

I forget the model but my first portable 'phone was a Nokia. I thought it was a 3310; but it was an earlier pattern than that in the photo above.

It lasted some 12 or 15 years before the battery - an encapsulated pack of AAA size cells - expired. Luckily I was able to replace that, but only a year or so later damp penetrated and destroyed the display. Otherwise I would still be using the 'phone, over 20 years after purchasing it.

After a brief waste of time and money with an LG model-some-number "smart" phone (silly adjective), my present one is a DORO 6520. It's rated as 3G but I am neither sure nor bothered what the x-G rating really means. It's what I need and want: a voice & text telephone. The LG and similar are selfie-camera/ games-instrument/ portable Internet computers that happen to include telephony in their auxiliary functions.

@ArishMell Doros are good! They are also extra loud for those of us with hearing problems. I SAID THEY'RE EXTRA LOUD FOR THOSE OF US WITH HEARING PROBLEMS.

@Gumba1000 Mine's on its lowest setting but still loud when "ringing". I switch it off when in company though, and obviously in something like a show or lecture, and when driving.

@midnightoker It could be used as an offensive weapon.

It is bound to happen. Then humans can stand by and see war break out among the different species.

Mine still works.
