Director focus #4 - Hou Hsiao-hsien

There are 2 i'll get next order - Daughter of the Nile and Flowers of Shanghai, i see in the future, releases that will flesh out my HHH collection, one of the supreme living auteurs, also of note his late colleague Edward Yang's 2nd film Taipei Story stars HHH in the lead role.

The first 2 here are a part of his juvenilia, i know u see cuz i read the whole Eureka booklet just now, and #3 here, his 4th begins his mature masterful period where he holds back and sees things from a distance, not moving to the action but letting it come out and maybe back in the frame, he keeps his depiction cool and detached, one of his trademarks. #'s 4 and 5 here i will need to upgrade at some point. Of note his Millenium Mambo can be seen on AsianCrush, but i would so much rather not have to rely on streaming for this guy. If you will, stand up and give a round of applause for Taiwan's HOU HSIAO-HSIEN!!!! 馃憦馃憦馃憦

@jjoe01 First 2 are light comedies, after that, arthouse stuff, which isn't always to the public's taste.
@SW-User The Assassin looks interesting, maybe I'll look it up.

@jjoe01 Hope you like it, it's got beautiful visuals, but is also very slow and the action sequences are few and far between.
