The epic month of April
Blu ray purchases of last month, some still on the way. I went into debt with the following, and will be paying it off for the next 3 months

2. Joaquim Pedro de Andrade: Complete Films
Cinema Nuovo, Brazilian New Wave director, i love having the complete works of a director in a handy set
3. The Koker Trilogy
Abbas Kiarostami's piercing eye is a delight, and this release has an early feature film too, and other great supplements
4. Dekalog
Watching this breathtaking series by Poland's premium director of the 90's marked a palpable return to my roots as a cinephile
5. The Apu Trilogy
Satyajit Ray's debut which starts this famed trilogy is an awesome achievement
6. The Road Trilogy
Wim Wenders takes you on 3 trips here
7. Celine and Julie Go Boating
Jacques Rivette's playful and mysterious masterpiece
8. Paris, Texas
Wim Wenders said of this that it was his official 2nd film, meaning he had been making the same kinds till this amazing 1985 work, Harry Dean Stanton is phenomenal
9. Martin Scorsese's World Cinema Project No. 1 to 3
18 films from around the globe, focusing on underappreciated countries, so far one of my faves was The Housemaid from South Korea, and Taipei Story which stars the director below
10. Early Hou Hsiao-Hsien: THREE FILMS 1980-1983
Has yet to arrive
11. Manila in the Claws of Light
Lino Brocka's Insiang is in the World Cinema Project volume 2, so i had to get his other film that's available
12. Hirokazu Kore-Eda
12 films in all, 8 so far have arrived and been seen, his cinema is a gentle and masterful kind, quiet, family drama kinds, he excels in directing talented children
13. Nuri Bilge Ceylan The Complete Films
Still to come, this guy is a modern master from Turkey, judging by some youtube clips, he's amazing
14. Solid Metal Nightmares: The Films Of Shinya Tsukamoto
A very fun set of 8 features and 2 short films
15. Takeshi Kitano
12 films in all, have gotten and seen only 2 so far, he was a comedian, and made yakuza films mostly, does many other things too, to be seen as a renaissance man
16. Takashi Miike
Black Society, and Dead or Alive Trilogies
17. Shohei Imamura
Survivor Ballads set of 3 films Ballad of Narayama / Zegen and Black Rain, Shohei doesn't shy away from depicting the animal nature of people.
18. Seijun Suzuki's Taisho trilogy
Quite alot, each of them weren't cheap, i see on reddit for example the norm is to find good deals, i dunno, but for me i like something MORE if it's expensive.
100 days till more can be ordered, if nothing shifts for me need-wise, i'll be focusing on Asian cinema big time. Asia is the where the films of the future reside. Up to around the 60's Hollywood reigned. The 50's and 60's were when International Arthouse cinema boomed. The 70's saw the rise of genre films, notably in Italy, and stray strands of the Arthouse in for example Germany. Since the mid 90's to the present time is the age imo, of ASIA, and before dying i want to see as much as i can from there as possible making use of streaming, and Blu-ray, and DVD if necessary. 馃樆
