8. The Hunters - Theo Angelopoulos - 1977 - 143 minutes
Follow up to The Travelling Players, and is every bit as great, maybe even better, but that one is more famous, has some of the longest, most complex shots, seeing The Hunters for the first time was one of the best film times i ever had, when you're drawn into it, oh boy, such a roller coaster ride, but you perhaps wouldn't know it if you were just letting it play as an ambient piece as i am about to tonight.
Here's a little slice of it, you see here one of many scenes where a bunch of people are gathered just to have a good time, only to be interrupted most abruptly by members of the army, was like a brutal kick in the tummy each time for that first viewing .....:)
