I Feel Sad When People Are In Pain and Wish I Could Do More

I have to say that for all 23 years I have been on this planet, possibly the saddest sight I have had to see is bearing witness to a person flushing their life down the toilet (be it through an addiction to drugs, alcohol, depression, abuse, etc.)

My heart bleeds for these people. I have gone above and beyond to try and give them the support and advice they needed to get out of the terrible rut they somehow burrowed into, but either they always refused to put my advice into action and simultaneously kept me around as a go-to someone whenever they needed to vent about their personal dramas (which eventually drove me to distance myself from them) or they just pushed me out of their lives altogether.

You have no other choice but to stand back, knowing the inevitable crash and burn that these people are approaching and what hurts the worst is knowing you did everything you could to try to break their fall and failed in the end.

But you have to continue to remind yourself that a person has to make a conscious decision to better their own life and get free from whatever addiction is dragging them down. Not one single other human being can do that for them.

But God, how I wish I could...for the main person I had in mind when I wrote this, I would do it in a heartbeat.

We all have a life path and learning that is often times extremely uncomfortable to others that have a big heart. I have in some ways walked in your shoes. I have stayed in a crack house hoping they could see how wonderful they are if I reminded them enough, But they have to see it too. We can only show them a better way through acceptance and love. it is their choice to receive it
