I Am An Atheist

I think that the idea of God is for the self. We ask for desires met. We look to be on the good side of the most powerful. We look for protection and comfort because it calms our fears and brings us what? Pleasure. We run from someone who is not pleasing, not productive, and not harmless so we don’t love God (or the idea of God whether invented or real), we love ourselves. We love the idea of eternal self-preservation. The constant is ourselves, and the variable is what is outside of us. We go towards what pleases our senses, and we run away from what doesn’t. We’ll put up with pain that guarantees us bliss in the future. Or we’ll put up with pain if we prefer that over the options we have, options we didn’t pick but have to choose from. There is phenomenal design that surpasses logic, but we even invented an idea out of that to please and comfort ourselves, because to admit life is a mystery is too unstable for some. All I see is the love of self through submission to authority by doing what they want to get a reward. That’s how this life is. Nod your head they love you. Shake your head no, you’re out. Religion or relationship with a higher power is just like our human lives at work and relationships. Do what they want and they are happy, don’t do what they want and you get anger from them. Nothing different. In the end we do submit to those who have power in our lives, again, out of the love of self, survival, or self-preservation.

I am a Christian but none the reasons you gave are reasons I became or remain Christian. Nice of you to project though.

Why did you become a Christian?
xixgun · M
I’m a Christian and neither expect nor ask anything of God. Kinda shoots your theory in the ass. Sorry. 😐
Specialyouare · 31-35, F
Well that’s nice you don’t expect anything.

@Specialyouare Yeah, I wasn’t raised to believe that I was owed anything. You might try that.
