I Have Random Thoughts

As Prom Season approaches, it reminds me of how I was never asked to my Prom. I was the shy duckling in high school, with low self-esteem, who later transformed into a swan. I sometimes regret that I didn't go anyway. I've even had a "Pretty Woman" moment, where I thought it would be fun to buy a beautiful ball gown, and go out for an extravagant evening, and enjoy my own modern-day "prom night" with DH. Has anyone else felt this way? ✨👠
I'm still waiting for my Cinderella moment, myself, although it's going to take a lot more magic than a credit card to pull it off.

I was supposed to go to prom though, but my date and I were both working for the same company and they said we had to work if we wanted to keep our jobs. You know what? Minimum wages for a summer job for a couple of months before going to college really wasn't worth missing a thing like that.

So sorry you missed out too.

I never went to a traditional prom but I understand how it feels to be a shy wallflower, because I was one in High School. I wanted to wear a tux and escort my date to the festivities, unfortunately that didn't happen. The only thing I regret

I think there's something exciting about the pomp and circumstance, and the ritual of it all. Sorry you didn't go either...

I got prom queen. And the whole night I felt insecure, ugly and shy. Your happiness and how you feel about yourself isn't about what nice dresses you wear it's all about how you feel about yourself without anything on lmao😊

@GlamGirl: Yeahh trust me, it wasn't a good night at all. Aw same, but I think they only exist in movies now 😁
GlamGirl · F
@Itsprincess: Maybe, but a GlamGirl can dream;)💖

I, like you, never went to any of my high school proms either. I was painfully shy. I also regret what could have been. 🤔

Me too...@Ambroseguy80:
Well what about those reunions. Knock them dead there. A special night for DW and DH. It would be fun.

So very true!

I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe we can have a SW Prom?

@HoraceGreenley: That would be so fun!

No school dances for me either.

I think we all go through phases where we feel guilty about what we have and/or resentful about what we don't have. I think we go through that to remind us that the only thing we really have is the here and now, and hopefully tomorrow and next week.

I think one can sort-of make up for a missed prom experience by showing up at the next class reunion. Having an old classmate ask if you were in their class, or comment about not remembering you could be an empowerment opportunity with a little creativity.

I have never been to Prom either and i think this prractice has lost its soul purpose and either should be stopped or toned down.

I skipped the prom. there was no one I cared enough about to go with. I really have never regretted it.

I didn't attend either my junior or senior prom. I wasn't asked, nor did I ask anyone.

Why don't you do an evening like that?! Why not?
