I Have Random Thoughts

I randomly think of and sometimes question how things work, although half the time these questions are very logical and I'm just having a moment of madness lol.
For instance: with such a wide variation of colours that can be produced on the computer, how does the printer know what exact quantities of certain cartridges is needed to mix in order to print that colour?
