I Have Depression, Anxiety, and Self-mutilation Issues

Why is it so hard to stay alive?
Moribund · 26-30, M
In all honesty, I don't know either. It's tough. Unbearably tough sometimes. And yet what else is there to do than to stay alive? Death? Pish-posh, we'll all die one day anyway, might as well as stick with living, right?

But on a more serious tone, it's hard and it's only going to get harder. That's why we need to stay strong more than ever. To keep going, no matter what comes our way. We have to find ways to cope with the pain that we ourselves make. Ways to cope with this ever-changing world with no chances of stopping. Ways to cope with anything, everything and nothing all at the same time.

It seems unfair at times, but I've taken a liking to a quote (I can't remember the original creator of this, though.) - ''We are all given exactly how much we can carry''. This might not be true, and in some cases it most certainly isn't, but it gives us one thing that's imperative for staying alive and at least somewhat sane - it gives us hope. And that hope is what I wish that you'd never run out of. I dream that one day it will get better. That is what keeps me going, and I hope that you can find such a dream as well. Something simple, yet meaningful. Something to mend the mind and soothe the soul.

Truly, I wish you the best of luck and hope that you can find the strength to carry on.

P.S. If you wish to talk or vent some of those pent-up emotions, I'd be glad to listen. Talking really does help out.

Thank you. Honestly i don't know what's keeping me alive right now. I've grown up in crap and pain and every time something good happens something even worse follows. I know it will get better I just want it to get better now.

I understand. It's not often I say this, but I think I do. I hope.
Just hang on. Treasure those precious scraps of happier moments you have. They'll soon fade, and all that'll be left is fog. Grasp at life and I promise you - it will change. One day you will find someone to make all of this worthwhile, who can take the pain away. All that's to be done is to wait. To find enough willpower to keep trudging on through the mess we find ourselves in. And that's often the hardest part...

Stop being the dummy who wants to dial 911. You're better than that.
