I Believe Family Is Very Important

My mother died in December.

Today would have been my parents' 70th wedding anniversary.My father has been having a difficult time, grieving these past months.

And so, my sister and I took him out for lunch today at an Italian restaurant, and we shared memories of my Italian mother. It was a wonderful time.

That was a lovely thing to do and just perfect for what you all needed. As you know my dad died two years ago. On their anniversary, I have taken some flowers for my mum. Nothing extravagant, just a simple bunch of flowers and I know she appreciates it. On the anniversary of his death one of us daughters make sure she is occupied and not left alone all day, usually taking her to a National Trust garden or this year my sister took her to a Meat Loaf concert!

@pennynoodles Meat Loaf would not be my Frank-Sinatra-loving Dad's cup of tea! 😂 But it's great that you are all doing this.

Thats difficult for him, my mom and dad were married for 60 years and when she passed he took it really hard and passed away 10 months later after she did.

I've watched my Mam going through a similar thing since my Dad died last January. It's not easy at all. Best wishes for you all x

@4meAndyou Of course not. I've traveled halfway across the country to visit. I will return home on Sunday, after a two-week stay.

So great I once took all the pics of a passed away loved one and made a DVD of all the good times and gave it to the family to always have when feeling down
