I Love Youtube

I watched some videos for a few days, of YouTubers who received surprise boxes "from the deep web" and opened them on camera. I don't remember what they call it, they call the boxes something.

Anyhow, one person opened a box and said it smelled really bad, and he took out things like a paper with blood on it, a recipe for rabbit soup and a hard drive with footage of someone catching rabbits. He found a package that smelled bad, inside of the box... And he didn't open it.

I just got reminded of this, talking about the deep web.

The "deep web" isn't some dark and scary place, and those videos are fake. The "deep web" is simply sites that aren't indexed by normal search engines, not to be confused with Tor, which itself is a network defined by special anonymizing protocols to connect the users. It was developed by the US Navy for secret communications. I've spent a lot of time on Tor, Freenode, and other hidden networks. The worst you'll find is pedos and drug markets. There are no "red rooms" where people are murdered on camera. It's an urban legend that people perpetuate for likes and views or whatever.
