I Hate Seeing Shootings Happen At Schools

I am a bit aghast at the people calling for the repeal of the 2nd amendment based on the school shooting in Florida. According to reports the law enforcement failed to act on at least 8 separate times when they were told that the shooter was a threat. Now if the law enforcement won't act on clear threats how would they ever enforce the gun ban following the repeal of the 2nd?

A repeal of the 2nd Amendment won't stop these attacks. If someone truly wants to commit this kind of atrocity, they will find a way. Not only that, there are other methods to inflict that amount of damage. There was a group of four guys in China that went on a rampage in 2014 with a knife and killed 29 people and injured another 130 people. There was also that incident in Nice, France where a man drove a truck into the crowd and killed 84 people without firing a shot. The Boston Bombings killed three people and injured about 264 people. The answer is not a repeal of the 2nd Amendment. However, firearm safety training, mental health checks, stronger background checks could help in creating a safer environment for children and adults alike.

@LeopoldBloom So which media outlet is credible? CNN? nope. MSNBC? nope ABCCBSNBC? nope. PBR? nope care to name a few others?
@hippyjoe1955 If they're talking about whether an event happened, they're all fairly credible. It's only when they add opinion and spin where you have to take their bias into account. This is where critical thinking skills can help.

For example, every media outlet reported that Donald Trump won the election and is president. It would be ludicrous to claim that didn't happen. But where they differ is in their analysis of events and the spin they put on them.

@LeopoldBloom They are all agenda driven just as is jones. I don't trust one of them to tell me the time of day.

The second amendment will never go away. Every one who owns a gun will be grandfathered with any new law. With that said, it is time to raise the age to buy a gun, and make sure gun owners are trained/licensed to use their weapon.
AS said above mental health checks and back ground checks will go a long way to prevent future atrocities. Nothing is perfect, but it is a start.
@Confined

and that makes no sense at all

here in the UK the school doors are locked now as soon as the last child is inside (as I thought happened in the States), I don't know if this would of stopped him but you never know, it's all sad, stay safe in this changing world everyone x
Very simple - suspend the Bill of Rights, declare martial law, and conduct door-to-door searches of people's homes. Trump would go along with this if it included dissolving Congress and declaring him Emperor of America for life.
