I Want To Talk About Parenting

Hi all! I have a question for all the parents out there. So i’m 26, and my younger sister has been removed from our parents house due to a lot of issues going on at home. I volunteered to be her legal guardian to save her from going to foster care, but now I have a 13 year old at my house that I have no clue how to raise. I have no experience at all with kids or parenting in general. Please send help 😂

The simple answer is that there is no simple answer. Be firm with her when she needs you to be, but also provide her with a loving, caring and stable home. I'm guessing that since she's been removed from your parents home that they're not going to be the best of examples when it comes to parenting, but maybe you have aunts, uncles or grandparents that can give you some advice.

Treat her the way you'd have wanted to be treated at that age. Keep communications open. Be firm but loving. Do your best and make changes when needed. Talk to people that you respect as parents.

Best of luck to you. You are doing a wonderful thing for your sister.
