I Love the Ocean

There is a place I use to go all the time that would always help me clear my head, calm my heart and just allow me to be for a few moments no matter how loud or stressful things got around me. It wasn't hard to find or get to, but it did amazing things that no other place could do for me.

When I had a bad break up or lost a friend, I went there. Come rain or shine, if things got out of hand or my depression hit hard, I went there. I would always walk to the end and sit, listen, breathe in and just let it all wash away.

I took many people there when not feeling or dealing with these things, but never told anyone why it was special to me. Most probably thought because I was a beach bum it was and that works for me.

I haven't been there in years, it's still there, still amazing, but I just can't do it like I use to. But I do plan on it, I will return to it.

We all need a place that does that for us or even a person. Anything that helps us center ourselves is a good thing. Hold on to it as long as you can, but don't be afraid to let go when the time is right to move on.

Here's a pic of my place, what's yours?

What a beautiful place you've chosen!! 🤗

May I ask where it is? :-)

Those are mines: 😊

@MrPerditus1 It is - for me it's the most beautiful state in Germany. 😊

Yeah, but I really guess you should go back to sleep! 🤓

@MrPerditus1 I use to live in California too. I was in Long Beach and didn't like it there. Up north is so much better! I use to go camping in Kings Canyon where people can no longer go!

@Peaches I loved camping up there too. Long hike in to get to the spots and I'm sure you can't go there now. Haven't been in ages.

Beautiful pictures❣🤗I love the ocean for the same reasons. I have a favorite bench I sit on up on a cliff overlooking the ocean and a lighthouse. I've always been drawn to lighthouses and don't know why. If I'm upset I instantly feel better by the ocean. I use to live there but moved to help my mother, she's gone now and I need to find my way back!😔💦Thank you for sharing your story, I can really relate. [image deleted]

@pennynoodles Thank you.

@MrPerditus1 There's a haunted lighthouse where I lived on the coast. 👻You can go in the gift shop and watch a 30 minute documentary about it. I've climbed all the way to the top of one before, it was amazing❣😊💦

@Peaches Now that's my kind of place. :)

I have never lived away from the ocean. It has always been right by my side. It's my Vitamin O, my sanctuary. My place to think, my place to cry, my place to write. Defintely a part of me. I have two places to go. One is Lovers Point, the other is Point Piños.

@silentwriter180 Those are beautiful. I've lived a few place away from the ocean and though they were all fine and I did well enough, I always missed the ocean. It's my place for everything as well. It really is beyond words for me at times and though I haven't been in some time, there are early mornings when the wind is just right, after a rain that I can catch the faint aroma of salt air.

I want to get there and take some pics, but not sure when I'll be able. Still, I have to get back there.

I go out here.
MrPerditus1 · 61-69, M
@pennynoodles Looks calming and serene. Do you take care of all those lovely flowers and plants?
ChampagneOnIce · 51-55, F
I love the ocean, and I miss living near it. It's the best thing for calming my soul and bringing peace. I need to find a place where I live now. The mountains are beautiful, but they are quite a drive in traffic to get there. Sometimes I go to a lake near my house where I write and contemplate, but it's not the same as what I found at the ocean.

@MrPerditus1 Thank you. There is something very special about the ocean. Nothing seems to affect me the same way that it does. I agree; there are other ways to find those feelings and connections, and I do employ them when needed, but the ocean is unique in how it speaks to my soul.
MrPerditus1 · 61-69, M
@ChampagneOnIce I couldn't agree more. Lucky for me, I was born here, raised and no matter how many times I've left, I always seem to make my way back.
ChampagneOnIce · 51-55, F
@MrPerditus1 My goal is to make my way back someday as well. I love where I live now and the quality of life we have. If my state had an ocean, it would be perfect for me. :)
SW-User
the man in the picture is you?
MrPerditus1 · 61-69, M
@SW-User Sadly, no, but when I was younger it would have been me.
pennynoodles · 56-60, F
Yes and they have needed a lot of nurturing this summer due to the incredible heatwave that we've had. @MrPerditus1
MrPerditus1 · 61-69, M
@pennynoodles I think that looks fantastic. A place to just get lost in, if able. Love it and I think you've done a great job with it.
pennynoodles · 56-60, F
Thank you, I'm sitting out there now 🙂🌼🌻@MrPerditus1

@pennynoodles I'm glad you have something as beautiful as that to enjoy and it's so close. 😊 Thank you for sharing it.
