I Have Been ' Blocked '

Being blocked is awesome. Just when you’re having a conversation where you disagree with someone, and then you suddenly get blocked, it’s like being told... “Ok, you win. I realise I can’t win and you’ll keep making better comments than me so my only option is to block you.” Love it.

Yeah. I got blocked today because apparently my opinion as a young person is irrelevant. Nothing to do with my words, just my age.

@GlitterBug See now there's a good example. I personally think it's fine to have books on being gay in a teen section of a library. We probably just disagree on that. That's all. No big deal. Why block someone because they disagree with you?

I think that's open to interpretation sometimes people block others because the person they are arguing with is ignorant and they can't be bothered to continue this back and fourth... :-/

@Peppa Yeah that's fair enough, except I've never blocked anyone who's ignorant. If I can't be bothered to continue the back and forth I just stop replying, end the conversation by not participating. Go to Notifications and click the Stop button.
Blocking for me is only for when there is genuine harrassment or abuse taking place.

@Peppa Everything everyone says on here is their opinion lol I'm not dictating anything to anyone. I'm just stating how I feel when I'm blocked, and what I do instead of blocking people.

In my opinion, blocking is a form of aggression. Disagreement does not call for thst form of behavior. That is taking it too personally!!

@CoffeeFirst I agree - I don't want to see nasty comments from obvious trolls in my feed. I don't block many people but sometimes it's the better option.

@RoadieJay There is so much I don't want to see in my feed, I'm with you. And if someone sends sketchy messages, well, what else am I supposed to do?

@Petals I think the "a form of aggression" comment has more to do with the blockee's feelings (because it can be kind of a shock) than the blocker's intent.

I completely agree. Every now and then some fool who cant engage in a debate on facts runs out of insults and blocks me.. I wouldnt say I regard it as a victory. It was not a contest to start with. Just supposed to be an exchange of views. (Waves to Surf****)
