Care about the environment? become a climate change activist like me

[c=#005E2F]Care about our planet and the world we live in? It's easy to become an environmental activist. Join or volunteer with a local environmental group. Plant trees in your community. Talk to your kids or parents, family, relatives, friends, co-workers about environmental issues. Get everyone thinking about climate change and the need for action! 🌍

Produce less garbage by recycling and composting more. By kitchen paper towels, and other products, made only of 100% recycled content. Yes, they are available and I buy them for my family.

If you live in an area where there is an election happening, talk to your local candidates. Ask them what they are doing to fight climate change and what polices they will support. Tell them you will only support candidates or parties that will take immediate and firm action on climate change, not some B.S. about what they will do in the future when conditions are right or the economy improves.

You don't need a university degree or a job with an environmental group to become a climate change activist. Just some common sense and a love for our planet. ♥️

Please do your part to save our world, and encourage others to do the same![/c]

P.S. If anyone has any comments, please post them here. I thank you all for your interest and support on this issue, but I am a F/T environmentalist and a F/T mom, so I can not respond to everyone who messages me! 🙂

@wildbill83 I read a story about Occupy versus the Tea Party. The tea partieers cleaned up afrer themselves.

That disturbed me.

Still much to occupy.

But at most hippie "rainbow gatherings" there was not a paper or can left after thse clean ups..

Much depends on local leadership I guess..

Already am.
Have been for 46 years.

First principle: walk the talk.
Make sure one's own life is 100% green.

This shows others that it possible, effective, cheaper, more comfortable, healthier and more aesthetically attractive.
When others see it, they start doing the same, feel grateful, and the movement spreads.

Guilt tripping, blaming and shaming doesn't work; it only makes people more defensive and resistant.

Asking people what they need, what matters most to them, and showing them how they can achieve this through green means works much more effectively.

CO2 is plant food
@Tres13 TOO MUCH of it:

is a water-body destroyer (lakes covered with green goo are the result), and

An atmospheric heat trap...AND

not nearly as dangerous as METHANE and that is overtaking CO2 in destroying everything.

In your private house another story might unravel as you water your plants.

People talk and talk about environmentally friendly behavior but never about the ONE human activity that at least doubles our carbon footprint: having kids. When I see people having more kids I am like, "why don't you just go burn a few acres of rainforest while you're at it?"
@Doomflower I never had kids.

Climate change is definitely the biggest threat that the world is facing. What do you think is the action you can take that will make the biggest difference? Hint: it’s in the kitchen, not the driveway.
@SW-User Its in the home office. Communication and organizing are a must. One can park an individual car to walk once a week but all cars must be made more carbon neutral and factory emissions too. Mercury must be kept out of the air and water and ground.

Of course POLITICAL encouragement on the FEDERAL would work wonders. Don't have that now.

@Elevatorpitches The biggest individual difference is in eating plant-based. It’s bigger than transportation but is not talked about as much.
@SW-User save the rain forests!!!!!!!!!!!

save the oceans
I tried to add you and was barred from so doing.

I am horrified at the active dismissal by most Americans...of our climate catastrophe.
