have you ever been to A&E only to find out the waiting time is like 5 hours?
is this just a uk thing or are hospitals in other countries the same?

Nope. Our hospital will triage you immediately and 69% of the time you will be seen in 30 minutes or less unless it is an emergency that we take care of immediately. But to speed things up and save money for minor things you may be routed down the hall to the urgent care clinic where they deal with cases of flu, etc.
