Well, things are currently stressful. Parents are afraid of pushing their kids over the edge.

Thank you for that point of view.@samueltyler2

Does the child have some learning disability? Maybe they forgot to mention.
Mindful · 56-60, F
@assemblingaknob yes. But mom may not know what it is. I have hardly seen her daughter. It’s virtual help and she doesn’t show up to scheduled appointments- maybe once a week

Yes, if the child is oppositional defiant.
Not sure how not learning cursive means they're afraid of their child.

@OggggO I learned in 2nd grade but it's not something kids are learning anymore. My kids didn't get taught cursive. I know it's recommended for kids with dyslexia. It helps them with spelling.

@OggggO We learnt cursive in 2nd grade too.

The schools are relaxing their standards with a lot of that material and parents end up agreeing.
Cursive is important. Spelling and grammar too and I understand they are rarely taught anymore...

It's possible. Fortunately I don't personally know any such cases, but it's not impossible.

I wouldn’t assume she was afraid of the child. Possibly afraid for her, if she thinks the child becomes easily discouraged with difficult tasks. Nowadays a few educators are even questioning the need for children to learn cursive writing. Not a position I agree with personally, but they cite the extensive use of computers, smartphones and typing by which even small children are proficient now. 🤔
