You have to kind have a lot of time to hang out in order to really make real friends as an adult including college. If you are busy working a lot then you won't have much time for bonds to form. The exception is if you are in a time consuming high intensity program with the same people all the time such as band, football or medical school.
Work a little less if possible and hang out at dorms say yes to all invites. Go to campus events.

Very great advice. I am in a high intensity program, I’m going to be in the same classes with the same people basically every day until I graduate. I’m trying not to be that person that isolates themselves from the rest of the class. I guess I can make more of an effort to talk to new people and start getting to know them.@REMsleep

Extroverts just naturally accrue friends over time, and introverts accrue friends by latching on to extroverts.

I’ll have to find someone to latch on to then lol. @BlueVeins

@DaughterOfTheDust Yea it does not matter if you could do more alone. Part of your goal would be to socialize

Sometimes you just have to find someone who seems like friend material and ask them for coffee or lunch.

My two closest friends were from my childhood and we reconnected in college. But others I met in the music department. Do you have any electives that are hobbies: sports, art, debate, that sort of thing ?

I did join a student association in freshman year but I got busy with work and school so I haven’t attended any of the meetings since then. Right now i’m taking a philosophy class just for the fun of it. It’s very small, only 7 of us, so I was hoping to meet people there. @bijouxbroussard
