What is the best education system in the world and what can we borrow from other countries and implement here ?

I believe Singapore has one of the top, if not THE top, education systems in the world.

I don't believe that more education reform is necessarily what is needed. We spend a ton on education in this country and have worse results than many many others.

The problem is that about 65% of academic performance is strongly correlated with factors outside of the school. Things like having dedicated parents, emotionally stable environments, music lessons, and access to food are bigger factors in determining academic success than just pumping more money into schools.

We need to find a way to improve the lives of children outside of school. Education reform only addresses about 35% of the problem
Honestly how are you supposed o make parents more responsible?@TinyViolins

@Master5dad I think a lot of the root problems are tied to economic stability. It's a big reason people from affluent neighborhoods outperform those from poorer neighborhoods.

You can even simplify the control variables and boil it down to the individual school level, and students with richer parents on average outperform students with poorer parents. Same if you take students with 2 parents as opposed to students with 1.

I think that given the economic trends we've been seeing in this country and in people's lives, and the wave of automation that is only going to exacerbate those things, the best way to give a lot of students a fighting chance is to implement a universal basic income.

It can free the time of parents so they can spend more with their children, and it can also help reduce stress levels so they're raised in a better environment. It's not a panacea, but it's a strong step forward that will be desperately needed sooner than later
I don't think we are the point of universal income yet, in time yes but I think right now we shouldn't give teachers tenure but by their classes grades and performances we have teachers have more responsibility. Our teachers should be paid based on their ability and how good they are and the highest paid should be sent to low income areas. @TinyViolins
