Unfortunately its life for many. One thing that people might not see is that maybe Richard's parents or his grandparents or whatever were in the same position as Paula. Just fortunate that Richard gets to reap the rewards within his lifetime. Hopefully people like Paula don't quit and find a way to give their kids or kid's kids the start they never had. And I hope people like Richard stop being such Richards.

@5thApprentice Somewhere the cycle needs to be broken.
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@chrisCA It will happen only when the Richards recognize the Paulas and give them opportunity and chances.

You expecting me to read the whole fuckig thing

That's your mistake
midnightsun · 26-30, M
@chrisCA yes
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@chrisCA Don't think he made it past third grade reading class.
midnightsun · 26-30, M
@NativeOregonian yes I didn't.
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
That about sums it up.

I like the cleverness of the last two panels. It really drives the message home.

I've lived in between Richard and Paula's worlds - this is sooo true! It's so sad.
NativeOregonian · 51-55
So many god damned willfully ignorant comments by those who most likely grew up like Richard >:(

Here in the western world we are supposed to be living in lands of opportunity, but way too many with opportunity are the Richards while too many of us Paulas are left to fall through the cracks, then critisized. This is one of the main reasons why I am a dyed in the wool Socialist.

Pretty cool. Inspiring.
No
just circumstance
do not envy and measure yourself against someone elses success

@butterflymind1 Yeah exactly. Dude's parents didn't just MAGICALLY get rich overnight. Seems like a skewed narrative.

This is a great post. I appreciate it
JarJarBoom · 41-45, F
I feel like shit because my life is sort of like Richard
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
@JarJarBoom Were you born/raised in a privileged environment, felt that you had earned and deserved the position in which you found yourself and believe that those less fortunate than yourself were simply lazy and undeserving?
JarJarBoom · 41-45, F
@DunningKruger to an extent, yes..I grew up privileged but I still had to work hard because my parents expected that out of me. Anyone can overcome odds though, it just takes hard work.
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@JarJarBoom That is not always the case, I have seen many, many people work their tails off to the point of exhaustion, even with higher education, and still not get anywhere. My Grandfather was one of them.
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
Well I know I joined the army to pay for my college

NativeOregonian · 51-55
