Did you have a special teacher in your life, that influenced you the most?

I think that the most influential teachers are the ones that
1) understand and respect your way of thinking
2) surprise you
3) admit that they do not know something

I had two such teachers, both of them in subjects that I never use in my professional life.
The first one was my literature teacher, such a witty guy. He was good in all the three points above, but especially in 2). The second one was my history teacher, her way of thinking was so much different from my way of thinking, but we had great mutual respect, and she could ask very provocative questions.

Do you have someone like this that you are grateful for?
Mr. Gregg my eighth grade metal shop teacher. He took me under his wing when everyone else just saw a thug. Taught me to refocus my bitterness and anger on more productive things. He actually let me stay after school Each day to make a sword completely from scratch. I still have it.

@PrivateHell wonderful moment - from a distance it might seem such a small detail, but for a young kid it might mean the world!!
Yes, my Universal History teacher who also taught me a course on the Roman Empire in college.

Awesome guy.

I have a few. It's quite special to have these type of teachers.

@Foxyfoxfox indeed, it is a pity that most of these teachers never get the appreciation that they deserve.
Foxyfoxfox · 51-55, F
@sumojumo and they get paid crap!
sumojumo · 36-40, M
@Foxyfoxfox and we are trying to make a foundation of this world on that crap. Aren't we (as a society) completely insane!?!

@KellyLancaster nice to hear that, I have no contacts with my teachers, the history teacher actually died a few years ago from cancer, made me really sad actually. So Miss, remember the kid that would always 🙋🏻‍♂️, and annoy you as fuck? I really appreciate your patience and you made an impact on my life, hope you would be proud of me.

@flowersindecember she is a teacher at school, or she just taught you things outside school?
@sumojumo Outside of school. She was a huge parent figure for me when I was growing up. My parents weren't really around a lot and she made me the person I am today.
