When things are slow (for example, the first few weeks of the semester), I take advantage of some of the downtime to look over the syllabus and try to get a few weeks ahead on some of the reading or the assignments that are listed there before things get too hectic. As a result, I'm always anywhere from 2-3 weeks ahead of the rest of the class and have a little extra time to complete major projects like research papers or presentations because I start working on them weeks before the rest of the class even starts thinking about those.

Consider not studying at home (dorm room, apt. where you live). There are way too many distractions there; roommates, people dropping by, TV, radio, food/beer in fridge, etc. Instead study in a place that is designed for it...the Study Lounge at your college, or, if they don't have one, the library. Some college libraries allow you to rent a kiosk or desk area. Or just find the least crowded quietest part of it.
Avoided a lot of partying and studied dusk till dawn. Luckily all that work paid off in the end.

Stay rested, workout, eat regularly, don't fall behind, and limit the drinking.

Otherwise, have fun. :)
Studied 4 hrs for each credit taken...
