Socialism has a large central government controlled by a ruling class or cadre. All others beneath them are controlled in their lives and sustenance by those in the ruling class or cadre. All decisions are taken away from the citizens.

Nothing in a socialist government is decentralized, therefore, if there is a huge flaw or mistake or corruption in the huge central government, there is no way for that flaw, corruption or error to be ameliorated, and the results always, without exception, impact all of the people under that government.

Socialists typically worry about dividing the pie, (the money), but do nothing to ensure that there are bakers baking more pie if they run out. All socialist governments, to date, have destroyed the countries they decided to govern and have created abject poverty, starvation, and wastelands.

Yeah that's exactly not supposed to be how democratic socialism works.

Well then pretty much the entire developed world would meet that description.

There’s nothing inherently bad about socialism, it’s just become a dirty word in American politics because of previous examples of socialist economies that have failed. People like to cite Russia and Venezuela a lot but they also like to overlook Norway, Germany and others that have booming socialist economies.

@Carver But those countries have strong infrastructure and stable education and the workers have high wages and they aren't fighting a myriad of illegal wars! Who could possibly want those things?! Pffffff, fuck the working class, right? Fuck education and infrastructure and wages and healthcare, that's all bad stuff, we need to spend our money on killing people in other countries and give anything left over to the rich.

Nothing is wrong with socialism so long as it isn't authoritarian. Democratic socialism is working brilliantly in most of the modernized world.

@BlueMetalChick I prefer communalism: a form of opt-in socialism.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Theseus Well that's a fair point. Personally I would describe myself as a mutualist, although I'm not convinced that most of the world is quite ready for mutualism yet.

Other than the fact that it always--ALWAYS--sucks all the productive marrow out of a society and decays into cannibalism/tyranny, nothing.

Socialism is neofeudalism in modern drag. It can only thrive in a climate of complete ignorance of language and history. Socialism is predicated/promulgated on systematized envy, and it produces only two classes of people; the impoverished/miserable and an elite caste.

@BlueMetalChick I'll refrain if it bugs you, but I still don't see why it would. SW doesn't seem to rank responses by no. Of hearts.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Theseus No, it doesn't bug me now that you've explained why.
