Which would you think is better? First study towards a degree in a particular field but possibly not ending up working in that field

or first getting a job, then studying in the field which is directly relevant to your job?

Obviously this does not apply to certain fields, but lets leave those fields for the purposes of simply answering this question?
[c=#359E00]this is actually hard to answer because it's applied differently for each individual[/c]

@YukikoAmagi Precisely and that is where the Management part of what you studied comes into play...

Management studies include systems thinking... knowing how things work.
@iMystery [c=#359E00]that's for middle and upper class staff, i only low class staff that do things as i told[/c] 馃槍

I have never thought a University education should be synonymous with a trade school and even if a person is sure of his chosen field they should be given a broader education . In the eighties businesses found it was easier to teach a Liberal Arts major "business" than teaching Business majors a broader vie of life. This is a fairly long video....so if you don't watch it no worries! I found it interesting

@bookerdana For a similar reason I am doing a degree in general business management/administration because it includes ALL aspects of any business, thus making it easier for me to fit in anywhere.

I chose not to specialise in a particular field for this very reason. I hate limitations.

I think second is better. Far too many people who go to university are not prepared for it yet. In all honesty, every single person I know went to university either because their parents planned their future for them or they wanted to prolong their youth because their parents were willing to support them financially as long as they studied.

@CrazyMusicLover Yeah I have read up on those.. 馃檮
I think it's a good idea to experience your field before investing in your education.
iMysteryM
@SooperSarah It certainly does have its benefits.
SpoiledbratF
I did the latter because that was my preference.
iMysteryM
@Spoiledbrat I think it is wise because that way you get the experience and the qualification... these days a qualification without experience is ALMOST useless.

Study during fall and winter, work in fields during summer
