People have always done that. If you expose your true and unusual self to everybody, strangers and all you will be judged and rejected by society.
You expose your true colours to people gradually while forming a relationship, that's how human relationships and society work

@MushroomFaerie I'd still like to be accepted by my own though, but until they can accept themselves...
@JovialPlutonian yes we all want to be accepted but we are also very judgmental by nature. We judge people we don't know who don't fit the 'normal' criteria, we all do it wether we like it or not. The amount of people you have judged in your mind negatively before you've got to know them is very high even if your not a 'judgmental person' its just what we do because our brains classify everything therefore we do not see the grey areas much with people we have no relationship with, we are detached and come to conclusions about why they are the way they are but your always going to have haters no matter what you do. The more haters you have the more lovers you have also but we are so afraid of being hated.
People who don't have many haters don't have many lovers either, they are just neutral.
If you have the balls to own yourself and hold your head up high then do it but be prepared for people to try and tear you down every second
