What is one of the hardest classes you ever took in school?

Either grade school or college. One for me was probably Human Biology. Drove me absolutely insane.

Math classes
SW-User
@ninjavu I didn't like Trigonometry lol.
Deadcutie · 18-21, F
@SW-User @ninjavu haven’t even gotten into those areas yet.. just at geometry
SW-User
@Deadcutie Good luck...
SW-User
Biology. I hated disecting frogs and cow eyeballs
SW-User
@nem16 I had a boy partner in biology so I made him do all the gross stuff while I sat on the stool and gagged
nem16 · 36-40, M
@SW-User And why not. lol
SW-User
@nem16 😂😂
SW-User
Art, i got an F.
SW-User
@SW-User haha i've had so many science experiments go wrong, it's a wonder i didn't get expelled 😂

@SW-User 😯😯😯

@SW-User I think if i was a student now, i would have accidentally ended up on the terrorist watch list 😛
DrWatson · 70-79, M
First semester of Real Analysis, out of a book by Walter Rudin which is infamously hard. But I went on and graduated with a math major nevertheless.
Neuroanatomy was a shit show. The only class I got a C in. I am not a neurologist now.

Human biology... We made a life-size human model showing All body parts, organs, bones, muscle ect...
Made it a fun and interesting way to learn about the human body.
I loved it.
Plus, the teacher was hawt. 😂
SW-User
@Montanaman Oh yeah, I remember doing that too. Memorizing and identifying all of those bones and body parts and muscles was the hard part.
Montanaman · M
@SW-User yes, especially the Brain. Like mudulla oblongata? Wtf?
Math got challenging in Grade 12.

But the biggest challenge
and the most rewarding class
ever
EVER
EVAAAAA
was/is American Sign Language 🤗😍✨

It's so elegant and beautiful and REAL: I love the DEAF culture.
SW-User
@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON I did good in math until 11th grade when I took trigonometry lol.
@SW-User And then we have the *uber brainiacs* who study Physics.
actually ENJOY IT.
WOW
inconceivable...😳🥴😆

I dated one of those creatures.
Fascinating specimen.

History 101. History of Western Civilization.

At the end of the 1st week the class was on page 172 and I was still on page 3. Every 2 weeks they gave a small 20 question quiz. Breaking 50% was a private personal achievement for me.

How could so many in the class be scoring 100% over such volume of material covered at lightening speed? Then I discovered that fraternities had the standard question banks used for the quizzes and studying 100 questions and answers was a lot easier than reading and remembering 250 pages of tiny print.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
I took a class in Meteorology. I should have gotten the hint by the fact that it was in the Physics department. I had to work like a dog to putt a C!
SW-User
Medical Statistics.
Deadcutie · 18-21, F
@SW-User @SW-User I can soak up me some statistics, especially those involving mortality.. my journal is a spreadsheet of death statistics...
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
A friend of mine who had to take this course called it "Sadistics."
@SW-User college/university Profs are not hired based on their ability to teach and deliver the material similar to elementary and HS teachers who go through teachers college, they are hired based on them being subject matter expert.
Poppies · 61-69, F
Partial differential equations. I decided I didn’t want to be a math major after all.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
@Poppies that one wasn't too bad I thought. Hated linear algebra though.
Poppies · 61-69, F
Linear algebra didn’t bother me @Tastyfrzz
Lanyx · 41-45, M
English. There is not much logic when it comes to languages.
@Lanyx Agreed. English is beyond logic.

I mean 'VON' is pronounced the same as
'VAUGHAN'.
WOW. REALLY???
HELL NOOO.🧐😳

YEAH. YES.
ABSOLUTELY.
HELL.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.....🥴😆😂
SW-User
@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON And Jeff/Jeffrey is pronounced the same as
Geoff/Geoffrey 😂
@SW-User Yeah. MENTAL A.F.😵😂
~~~
It was a *fascinating* learning process.
WAS IT FASCINATING?
Nahhh. I just did it.
Because, that's what one does;
when one's family has emigrated from one's birth country
into an Anglophone country.
Books saved me :) I lived in books.
SW-User
Spanish. I cheated my ass off in that class. 😂
@SW-User 😱😱
SW-User
@SW-User 😂
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@SW-User I took Spanish in junior high and I believe that me being tone-deaf had a lot to do with how I pronounced words, felt like there was something I wasn’t getting.
Deadcutie · 18-21, F
I can see the necessity to learn basic math algebra and geometry, I do not need to know this shit!!!!!
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
I was a terrible language student, I nearly failed French n
SweetMae · 70-79, F
Gym I wasn't very athletic or strong.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
@SweetMae yeah, I was always picked last. I was talk, gangly, and disinterested is sports.
jackson55 · M
Anybody ever had a use for Algerbra in their daily lives? Trig, geometry yeah. But Algerbra?
UnshodAdvocate · 26-30, M
@jackson55 Time, walking, using the internet, etc. We all use algebra every day and most do not even know it.
jackson55 · M
@UnshodAdvocate Yes true, but not in using algebra to solve math issues in everyday life.
UnshodAdvocate · 26-30, M
@jackson55 Time to solve a regular issue is still algebra in terms of time.
Deadcutie · 18-21, F
Love me some human biology... helps when you have someone to actually work on and see in person...
For me.. composition/grammar ... I’ve always spelled things phonetically and I’ve never gotten the idea of sentence structure.. I was able to fake it enough to pass.
MasterDvdC · 61-69, M
@Deadcutie I always enjoyed English comp. I had a teacher tell me one time that she always enjoyed what I wrote. Even the things we wrote in class because she told me I always had something interesting to say and I said it well. My difficulty in that class with spelling. I can't spell worth a Diddly.
Deadcutie · 18-21, F
@MasterDvdC yep , like I said, I spell it how it sounds.. ei, ie, and silent letters trip me up
xSharp · 31-35, M
english teachers truedeu propaganda criteria was such nonsensical bs, i could not correct the teacher without taking up the rest of class and so, for the sake of passing, i kept my mouth shut.. hardest class ever, but i passed bio and math while hiigh the whole time lol
4meAndyou · F
Accounting. I hired a tutor, who was recommended to me by the professor as one of his best students, and SHE could not do the homework. Everything she taught me was wrong.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
@4meAndyou I don't think he was recommending her for her brain.
4meAndyou · F
@Tastyfrzz Actually I never thought of that till just now. 😂
Advanced Algebra/Trigonometry in my junior year of high school. I got D's and F's on test after test but somehow passed with a B at the end of school year.
SW-User
@SW-User Junior year of high of school is just hard, period lol.
SW-User
@SW-User Oh yeah...trigonometry, chemistry/physics, the ACT/SAT test, just ridiculous.
Calculus. I had to quit at Calc 3, dont think I fully understood Calc 1 and 2. I don't use it in my daily job, after all that. 😉
SW-User
@CoffeeFirst I had to take Statistics for nursing and that was hard enough lol.
CoffeeFirst · 56-60, F
@SW-User I kind of liked Stats. But Chemistry-blech!
AnneHoney · 36-40, F
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
Hmmm...probably Oceanography (I even had trouble finding the actual ocean on a field trip!)...but maybe Calculus because math has always been my toughest subject.
Statistics or geometry. I couldn't make sense of either one. I'm not sure they were the hardest but they were definitely not my favorite subjects.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
Linear algebra. Hated doing the stupid proofs. Just show me the tools and I'll trust you when I see that they give the correct answer ok?
Rutterman · 46-50, M
Anatomy & Physiology. It wasn't difficult to comprehend. What was difficult was the mass of material we had to learn.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
Modern Physics. Teacher was a real dweeb. Nothing made sense. Math was way beyond me and he expected us to understand it.
ninjavu · 51-55, M
ninjavu · 51-55, M
@greenmountaingal Then you did better than I did, and I'm impressed. I basically bailed a the end of my first semester of university. The professor of the one course I passed (which I can assure you was not calculus), but barely, ran into me one day and asked (seriously) why I had even bothered to show up for the final exam. I was stunned he even knew who I was! He told me that if I had not shown up for the final exam he would have just written me off or given me an "incomplete". I can't remember exactly now what options were available to him, but I suppose it might have looked better on my transcript. However, I don't think he knew the extent of how dismally I had botched my very brief university career.
Anyway, I'd say I turned out OK for a university drop-out, although my chosen career doesn't involve calculus I can assure you!
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
@ninjavu You're not a university dropout; you're a high school graduate!"
ninjavu · 51-55, M
@greenmountaingal Ha ha. Thanks! :)
Filipino or one of those math subjects T____T i got grades in the line of 7 in those omggggg
nem16 · 36-40, M
Maths I always struggled with too.
Chap0406 · 41-45, F
@nem16 🤔 and who needs to think less
nem16 · 36-40, M
@Chap0406 At least I'm capable! lmao
UnshodAdvocate · 26-30, M
@nem16 Math? Really?
Heat Transert, it sucked and prof did not know how to teach either so it was shit.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
IT, programming in Pascal. I admit that I was completely lost.
Math was the second one.
wackidywack · 22-25
Fucking chemistry both organic & inorganic
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
@wackidywack I've heard that organic really sucks. Was in lab for analytical chemistry when we heard what soundes like someone had dropped a chest of drawers down in the organic chemistry lab. Got down there and it was a mess. One girl was cut up pretty bad. She'd been doing a distillation and it had turned into tnt and exploded
wackidywack · 22-25
Jesus Christ & I was only thinking of the lessons. The lab classes are a whole other level
SW-User
Mathematical Logic
The prof was a total prick and couldn’t explain anything.
Anything math was hard for me my worst subject by far
chrisCA · M
In high school, Chemistry.
In college, Economics.
SW-User
@chrisCA I did good in high school Chemistry. In college I had to take advanced Chemistry classes for Nursing during my freshman year.
Data Structures and Programming in C+ for Computer Science.
MasterDvdC · 61-69, M
My downfall in college was analytic geometry.
LyricalOne · F
Physical Chemistry. Just typing that made me sweat.
