Extreme fire danger and mowing the lawn?

We have extreme fire danger right now and no one is allowed to mow dry grass. How often do you think fires start this way? I'm curious because my neighbor is mowing his tall dead grass in his backyard. Should I be worried?

Well it definitely could start a fire, mainly if he was to hit a rock or something that could spark, I probably wouldn’t be mowing if I were him

@SW-User He gave up on mowing it like he usually does, but this time that's a good thing.
morrgin · F
@morrgin Nope he's back at it. Probably found some kid to do it for him.

Have buckets of extra water available. Good to have numerous amounts. Maybe it won't save ya, but hey, maybe it also could!
Also good for it the lectrick goes oo't.
I'd let him mow his lawn though, or else he might snap or something, having tall grass.

They are worried about the blade hitting debris and sparking a fire

Is he using a gas or electric lawnmower?
Cut down would be safer

Not very common but can happen if the spark arrestor is taken off of the exhaust. Which they almost always are since they clog up faster than a rabbit late for a date.

@MethDozer Looks like he's doing his own wiring job on the mower.

@morrgin I wouldn't be too concerned. It is just erring on the side of extreme caution. Really it is 6 of one and half dozen of the other. There's the chance of an errant spark but tall dry grass is a sizable dire hazard on its own.
