@SimplyTracie that is the negotiating part. countries don't want to have trade deficits so they want as much trade parity as is possible. You don't want to flood another countries economy with product they don't need, that's not smart trade.

I believe what he says that he wants protection of own industry but open boarders for the US companies in the countries where they operate. That's not free trade. Actually protection should be the first that goes. Theory is that the fittest and most innovative companies will survive. Worth a thought, no?
