No, because to achieve it, there needs to be an equal amount of resources to trade to the participants. Sounds like global Communism.

@SW-User What should we manufacture so we can trade or export?
SW-User
@SimplyTracie To make it fair and reciprocal, we should trade something of equal value. It would depend on what others have to trade.

However I feel we should be a technological leader in the world. We should export things that reduce pollution and waste, or remove pollution and waste. We should also work to make it affordable so we can sell more of it.

@SW-User Maybe we should only buy products made in the USA.
TheProphet · M
@SimplyTracie We blew that starting in the 70's. We did it to ourselves when we stopped buying American, and started buying cheap foreign shit.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@TheProphet That’s true. None of our TVs are Made in the USA. Do we even manufacture TVs in the USA?
TheProphet · M
@SimplyTracie Not sure that we do.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@TheProphet Do you think we can compete? I mean, we made cars and yet people bought BMW cars and Toyota trucks.
SW-User
@SimplyTracie It makes sense to do that, and it would add a lot more jobs to the mix. But it's not something US companies want to do, invest in more capital infrastructure to build here. That would hurt profits.

@SW-User I read that Amazon has no realized profits because they invest in expansions. Seems smart to me. You have to invest for the future. Right?
TheProphet · M
@SimplyTracie Keeps them from paying taxes too. Ye it is a very good business practice.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@TheProphet If it’s good, why won’t more companies do that? Especially in the manufacturing sector?
TheProphet · M
@SimplyTracie Yes we can still compete, but many industries are probably gone for good.
TheProphet · M
@SimplyTracie Most do, but investors expect dividends too.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@TheProphet It’s great if the majority of them are already doing that. Then it’s all good. Right?
TheProphet · M
@SimplyTracie They can only do that if there is potential to grow. I constantly invest in new equipment.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@TheProphet That’s smart. You really can’t grow without modernization. I think companies failed when they became greedy.
SW-User
@SimplyTracie Amazon doesn't necessarily produce a product though. They're a middleman in the grand scheme of things. They provide a service, similar to a contract laborer but on a much, much larger scale.

However, investing in expansion to dominate the market is something almost every business wants to do. Time will tell how this will work out because of the nature of the world today.
TheProphet · M
@SimplyTracie hey aren't greedy Tracie. I don't know where you ever got that wrong idea. Companies exist to make money for their investors. Period.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@TheProphet Jm talking about millions in bonuses as a company goes bankrupt
TheProphet · M
@SimplyTracie That's different Tracie. I'm against that too. Bonuses are for great performing employees. It should always be merit based.
SW-User
@SimplyTracie Or making unreasonable business practices in order to make money.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@TheProphet That’s greed.

@TheProphet Are you against forcing people to buy things just so the company can make sales? Or pushing them into agreements that only benefit the company and not the consumer? Are you against cutting corners or skirting around government regulations to save money? These are all hallmarks of successful businesses.
TheProphet · M
@SimplyTracie No hon it isn't. Would you invest your hard owned money in a business and not expect them to make a profit and pay you dividends? I don't think so. Think of it like your college courses. You're trying to better yourself, making an investment, in order to get a good career, making a profit.
TheProphet · M
@SW-User Yes I'm against those things. I don't agree that that makes a successful business.
