Anyone with a degree on science? Any science.

Should I really give up on my social and online lives in order to invest the time and effort I need on my degree?

A college degree is basically what a high school degree was 25 years ago. A good degree is important to get some of the best jobs. However there should be a balance. Set a limit to how much presence you have in social media and stick to it.

If you are giving up social and online time... then the answer is yes. There's simply no comparison when weighing the two.

That said... all indications are that jobs in science will continue to grow. Considering the very real possibility that some jobs will go away due to technology, and the growing number of (especially males) who seem to have nothing going in life... except maybe their online obsessions... the answer is again... YES.

@SW-User I've noticed that too with males. That is very frightening...

The continued infantilization of the American (and now western and even global) young male... does not bode well for the future, and has been going on for a while.

Depends on where your social and online lives lead you. Are you able enough to pay your bills without a college degree? If yes, carry on. If not, who said you can't have social life and earn a degree at the same time. There are some amazing people and professors at the college. Socialiazing with them would be more productive and efficient than bunch of random people on the internet.

I've been a scientist for 33 years and my education has served me well. If you like science, then go for it. If you are interested in another field, then pursue that.

Not everyone is suited to college. Some people are better attending a vocational/trade school.

You need to know what interests you and what you have an aptitude for doing.

By the way, you can go to college and still have friends...

I would advise you to invest enough time to do your degree. But you really should do it with all your heart. Otherwise it doesn't make sense.

I have done years ago my degree in social work. 😊

@Loretta78 Thank you for the advice, Loretta. 😊

Does chemistry count?
And no, you shouldn't! I really regret some things. I'm planning on keep studying (no phD for me yet) but I'm not giving up on anything anymore.
Trevo · 26-30, M
@SW-User I'm taking chemistry lol, so of course it does and thank you :)
SW-User
@Trevo Oh,lol! I believe there should be balance. If you feel Like your social and internet life takes too much of your time then start setting limits but do not give up.

Absolutely, friendship transepts anything you'd doing. It won't get in your way to be focused on the goal, yo uh r goal.

You have one chance at it.
Go get it, your friends will understand.
