Found A Dinosaur While Going Through Some Boxes [I Am a Computer Geek]

This makes me feel old, but I found the dell I had back in middle school; and a brief appearance as a back-up during college. The thing was dusty AF, but a replacement battery and a quick repair install of XP later and she's kicking again. I even managed to salvage a bunch of data from her.

Most of it was old english prompts and video games, but I've been playing around on her and enjoying some old memories. Fallout 3 and Hearts of Iron are as fun as I remember. It's been fun updating some of her old features; newer backgrounds, browsers, upgrading RAM and storage, etc. She's been a fun little project piece over the last few days, might actually be able to find a use for her as a writing laptop or something, don't know.

thats cool keep her going are you going to try and run windows 8 or 10 on it ?
@Elizabeth28 Ha, that'd be fun to try. But the hardware in her wouldn't be able to handle it. It has enough trouble trying to run a few programs at once. With everything 10 likes to run it the background it'd kill the RAM limit that it currently has.

I COULD try upgrading the motherboard to support more RAM, or upgrade the processor maybe, but I think it'd be more worthwhile to use my newer laptops or my desktop for that. I think this is just gonna remain a nostalgia piece for now. ^^;
@NeighFlowers aaaah i see , shes a n old gal but glad yo ugot her going now .

Im the same way whit .. .vacuums got a new motor on order been using my spare electrolux cansiter until my compact c9 is fix i do have old laptop but there to fried to do anything....
@Elizabeth28 Yeah, old tech can be finicky. Especially laptops and computers. It was hard enough finding a decent priced hard drive to put in her. The original drive only had 60 gigs of storage, but when I used it for a month in college, I slapped a 200 gig drive in her.
@NeighFlowers oh for sure
