I Did You Know

WHERE In the US constitution, is the "two party System" or any reference to the politcal parties can be found.
I cant find one!
TheProphet · M
There is no mention of it in the Constitution because there have always been more than 2 parties and there are more than 2 parties now. Most are marginal ones that have little chance of getting any candidates elected. In essence we are a 2 party system.
@TheProphet you seem very well informed thank you.
i have read of the earliest party associations, and the reluctance of some of the founders.
The old SOviet Union had elections, that we derided, as not really a choice, tho many candidates would field. I am finding it hard to distiniguish this from our own party monopoly.
My Young Questioner would prefer an answer less cynical than.
"the power these entities hold over our entire system is tecnically not derived from any part of our foundiing documents, and seems to be the result of deliberate design, to exclude any but the incumbent parties"
thanks for your time Sir

@SatyrService YW. Never stop asking questions.
@TheProphet better still, never stop seeking solutions
Ynotisay · M
That's why there's more than two political parties.
@Ynotisay was serious about that clue, not being a dick, text is often misleadiing..
on the trail of ideas..

and yeah, for YEARS in the US they DID teach that..
cultural programming here, says that "all third party votes are wasted" and that they can "never win".
and one can only vote for those that are on the ballot, a ballot controled by party iinterests. write ins not withstanding.
I am still forming my premiss, not suggesting one, tho I am interested in proportional representation, and run off voting,

@SatyrService Then my apologies. You're right. Some things are lost via text.
I think the third party vote being wasted has some legitimacy. At least when it comes to the the left in 2000 with Nader and 2016 with Stein. Those votes cost the Democrats the elections. I'd say they were wasted because I highly doubt those voters preferred Bush and Trump over Gore and Clinton. It's going to take a lot for a third part to really become a player. The Tea Party made some noise but they're pushing an agenda that's more about ideology than governance. I personally think we'll see a true Progressive party down the road that's focused on wealth disparity. That has a message for all Americans. And Sanders showed there's the stomach for that with voters. We'll see.
@Ynotisay I like what you say, about a future party, berni style, i wish he was 50 years old! consitant positions across his carrer.
the 2 parties have swapped places a lot,
proportinal representatipon would require as change in the constitution ( see above coneversation with Phrophet.)
