I Think Being Barefoot Is The Best Way To Be

Very barefoot weekend. After work ended on Friday, shoes came off and I've been barefoot since. Stopped into an outdoor sports store on the way home. Went swimming then home for the evening. Saturday was up with a 2.5 mile walk, then to the grocery store, drug store, and bank. Today was lawn mowing then went to see a movie, Lowe's, and finally to the local burger restaurant. I had gone in there last Sunday evening, and it sounded good again tonight.

As I'm just about done with my meal, a nice young man who said he was some type of manager came over and said something about the fact that I was barefoot. Basically the General Manager sent him over (I guess the GM felt like it was below him to talk to some barefoot guy). The young man had seen me in there before and thanked me for coming in. I actually expected him to say that some other customer had complained, but it was the manager who trotted out the "Health Dept" myth. I told him that it was NOT a Health Dept policy and that he could look it up. He got a little defensive and said he was only he messenger. I told him it wasn't a problem. Basically he was just covering his ass by talking to me so that he could tell the GM that he did it. He said that he didn't care if I came in barefoot or not, and appreciated my patronage. We talked for a few minutes longer about their restaurant and how I found the place a couple of years ago. My wife isn't a big fan of my barefooting, so we'll see what happens next time.

It was nice to be "confronted" in such a civilized manner. My waitress was very nice and the food it great! I'll be back.

I had a similar experience in a local discount store. The manager walked up to me and said "next time please wear shoes". I said OK, but why, he replied "it's against health codes"! I was waiting for that answer, and replied back, "sorry, but being barefoot isn't against any health code in the country", he said "Ooo, I didn't know that", then he turned around and left! I haven't gone back in that store without shoes, mainly because like you, my wife isn't a fan... yet.

People are so obsessed about sealing up our bodies. Making us hot, sweaty & uncomfortable. My question is why?
