The name is fine , why people mistreat animals is not.
I don’t get it , there is no excuse for it. I hope you can get him healthy

2 years old is not old.. If you really want a name change he will adapt. But hasnt he been through enough disruption already? I would leave it, and I would reset his routine using a LOT of treats to get him into his new gig with you..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman yeah, that's just what I was thinking too. Hes gotten pretty attached to the lady's daughter, I've seen pics, they sleep together. So cute. I'm very affectionate and loving with my dogs so I'm hoping he'll adapt well with me...fi gets crossed!

You can change a Dogs name in no time. Old dogs do learn new tricks. As long as they're not in dementia, there's really no age limit to learning.

Changing his name will be fine. What kind of dog is it?

@laluluxxx lovely. My last dog was a lab rottie cross.

My dog comes to about 20 different nicknames. They don't care lol
@KuroNeko same! We wanted to be able to talk about her without her responding. But she knows she's the dog and the girl. She even knows what it means when we spell out food and dinner.

@SooperSarah they can read your mind. I only have to think about taking him out and hell get up and sit in front of me waiting. He'll do this at any time of day too.
