Still cant sleep..

Too much swirling around in my head I guess

Forgive me if I assume to much ,but I have an issue with sleeping due to pain .
But the VA forced me to take all kinds of classes to assist me when they would not give me anything for pain ,,one class was mindfulness .
I have been working with my son to master it ,it actually helps
It gives you're mind something else to focus on ,helps with stress ,the run away mind and even pain .
You start by inhaling as deep as you can a few times ,get some oxygen flowing .
Then take a deep breath and hold it ,let it out slow
Do that a few times ,,
Then close you're eyes ,,Listen for a sound that stands out ,,
Focus on it ,and soon you are in like a day dream state ,,
Its hard to stay focused ,,listen only to one sound ,but with practice it works
I like nature sounds
I have a program for meditation ,its in the woods ,mountain stream ,you hear birds ,the stream trickling ,
Its also visual ,,so I like looking up into the woods trying to spot the birds that are singing ,watch the water as it swirls around the rocks
I have a big screen monitor like most people now days ,
So with the lights off and the sounds coming from the surround sound .
I can imagine myself back in the mountains ,like in a day dream for a bit .
I also like lightning and rain ,they have a scene for that too .

If not ,,You tube has nature sounds too ,,I like this one but there are lots of them on there ,,just find something to distract you're mind
It takes work at first ,but you can control what you think
If I couldn't after 7 yrs of being disabled and alone most of the time .
I would have went nuts ,,so I hope some of this helps

Its not for everyone ,,I was not a fan of it
But since I was being forced to be there ,,I used it to block them out ,,LOL
