The US military banned the use of Tik Tok on government phones back in December of 2019 after BIPARTISAN calls from Congress.
Sens. Chuck Schumer, a New York Democrat, and Tom Cotton, an Arkansas Republican, called on the US intelligence community to assess TikTok's national security risks in October, saying the app could be used to spy on US citizens. Other lawmakers, including Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, have raised concerns that TikTok has censored Hong Kong-related content.
Looks like he’s not the only one who wants it banned.

@Elessar Hmm, well let's see. If Microsoft or some other American company assume control of TikTok will Trump still want to ban it? If he does, then clearly his motivations were non-security related... ;)

@SW-User Right, we'd have this assessment tool as well. Well, even if he halts the acquisition I suppose.

@Elessar I think, at the bottom of it, he wants to ban TikTok because Sarah Cooper made fun of him. We know he's been motivated by less perceived slurs against him.
