I Ugh

Idk why people always ask me the same question . all my life one of the first things people ask me is where are you from what country are you from ? they somehow assume i am foreign when really i am american . i tell them i am from the u.s then they'll be like no but where are you like really , really from ? people will always ask me so what race are you ? it's like wow doe's it matter really what i am ? i think not . i just had someone ask me that today so what country are you from ? it's so stupid .

Yep, my girlfriend has the same issue, she is from Cleveland, her ethnicity and parents are from South Korea. It definitely does not matter, I assume people are just curious, but I can imagine it gets annoying, being some random white dude I never have to hear that

@Lackwittyname probably cos ur from a predominantly white people area. I'm from Asia so I also get asked that a lot lol, personally I actually kinda like it cos I also see it as them just being curious, but that was a long time ago when I actually left the house and socialized and remembered getting slightly frustrated and annoyed by people asking me that all the time.

I understand now that a lot of people don’t like to be asked, but it came as a surprise to me when I first found that out. So now, even though I am only curious, I tend to keep my mouth shut. My husband, on the other hand, will always ask and thinks people are silly to be offended. My view is, if people are offended, they are offended, even if it doesn’t make sense to me, and I have no wish to offend anyone.
