I Still Remember September 11

I was in 10th grade in math class. Our teacher was from New York, another teacher came and whispered something to him. You could see him turn as white as a sheet, he just turned the TV on to a local news station and sat at his desk.

All classes for the day were cancelled essentially. We went to our next class and basically just sat watching the news all period. I felt compelled to keep a timeline of events but eventually tossed it after a few hours, not really sure why.

I normally went to another school half the day but we were under lockdown and no one went to that school for the day. Since I and many others were basically orphaned, we had the option of going to another class or the library, most of us went to the library.

It was quite scary for us cause my high school was in downtown Atlanta near the CDC, and there were rumors the CDC was another target. By the afternoon, they were convinced we were safe and lifted the lockdown letting us go home at normal time.

Of course, we all do...if u didn't remember 9/11, something wrong!

@KamiKazi sure, but all in history books!

@Wiseacre Yeah, but reading about it in history books is different than actually seeing the event take place. I do know of the Challenger explosion but I couldn't tell you any details about where I was or what I was doing at the time like my parents can. That's what I assumed this group was for. Though I certainly see what I think your point is, if you don't remember history you are doomed to repeat it.

@KamiKazi indeed..

How was it when you went back home to your parents
KamiKazi · M
@MightySizeQueen It was basically non stop news watching for the rest of the night. I'm not as clear on those details unfortunately so I don't recall what we may have talked about or anything like that :(

@KamiKazi to think of it, I don't recall how it was when I went back home to my folks.
