I did the coin thing too and stuck it near a bush that I'd hidden a walkie talkie in. When they bent down to pick up the coin, the bush would say, "Oi! Leave my coin alone".

We also used to tie the door knockers together of houses on opposite sides of the street. When a car came down the road, it would hit all the cords between the knockers and "knock" on every door on the street simultaneously. Was funny to see everyone answer the door at the same time and nobody be there.

One time, I got a blew up a picture of an alligator onto about seventy sheets of paper and taped them across the window of someone's bedroom at night. When they opened the curtains in the morning, they had the shock of an alligator attack!

The best one I've heard of involved some elderly out of work actors in West Hollywood, California. They went to the sex shop area of Santa Monica Blvd. with some picket signs and picketed all the porno shops. The signs read: PORN PRICES TOO HIGH FOR SENIOR CITIZENS! One sign read: WE'RE OLD NOT COLD! And they passed out pamphlets that said things like, "Suppose your grandmother wanted to buy a pornographic video and she had to wait two or three weeks until her Social Security check came..."
The news media actually reported on it seriously until they figured out it was a hoax. The porn shop owners were complaining until they realized that the publicity was bringing them more business.

I'm fond of putting a clear elastic hair band over the handle of the kitchen sink sprayer. The next person who turns on the water gets a little surprise.
