I Believe That Words Are Powerful

There are a lot of things you can take back and ask forgiveness for but words will always leave a lasting mark on those you speak with. My father always told me to think before I speak and know that words can't be taken back once they leave your mouth. Very important words of wisdom I continue to live by :D

Wise man. With hurtful words comes these commands from our minds for our entire inner self to pay close attention to the moment they’re said and who’s saying them, like it’s mentally sketching an image of the pain felt that’s far more than simply being put down onto a sheet of paper. I think that’s why they have the lasting effect they do and why even though forgiveness may come over time, being able to forget can take much longer.

@PerfectionOfTheHeart I may forgive but I don't ever forget and believe it or not I have ended relationships over words because they couldn't be forgiven.

@Silentpleasure I’m built the same way and have done the same. I would say I’m forgetting peace can be found, but by not forgetting such moments of pain helps sharpen our ability to decipher who needs to be a part of our life and who doesn’t. When people who wear a mask get comfortable with you they tend to let some things slip...their mask, their true feelings hidden behind the fake ones to earn your trust and when that truth hits your heart it’s really hard not to see them as someone who will bring you harm. Life’s too short to allow that, man. Especially when there’s sooo many people in the world who can be honest with you without bringing you pain that can’t be forgotten.

@PerfectionOfTheHeart Very well said and I agree with you 100%

That's why if I feel I have something perhaps negative to convey in written word, I think long and hard before I press "send." Spoken and written words are very powerful indeed. Thank you for sharing!

@Pinto You're most welcome

I eventually became accustomed to biting my tongue.... lol

@SW-User Pick and choose your battles but I also reflect on why I am biting my tongue and if it isn't a good reason I either speak my mind or remove the person from my life.

@Silentpleasure very wise indeed

Positive words thoughtfully used are powerful too, especially if backed up by consistent actions. 🙂

I'd guess you've seen those words proven time after time.
Silentpleasure · 31-35, F
@hlpflwthat Seen and even felt the sharp tongues of those who never learned this lesson.
