I Believe That Words Are Powerful

Words can be so powerful. They can paint a picture. They can motivate and they can destroy.

Sticks and stones can break one's bones. But those heal. The negative words that have been repeatedly used to beat one down left severe scars and a few wounds that have never healed.

Honestly, I am much like you with the blocking. I guess I said this more for people dealing with kids in particular.

Being a parent means you sometimes are going to be frustrated with your kids. I tried to not speak in the heat of the moment, so that I did not say anything that I could not take back.

This only came up because I was at the store and saw a woman yelling at her daughter who had accidentally broke a dozen eggs. The things she said and called that child were horrid.

Truly wonderful parents. I was the same with my boys. But when they were young, they would receive a swat on the Hind end if what they were doing was something that would harm them. Like running into the street, or grabbing the hot pan off the stove. Those were rare, but I wanted them to remember a sting than be harmed or dead.
