I never knew I should wash rice.
KaysHealingPath · 36-40, F
You also should never wash chicken before cooking it
And never stir fry chicken with veggies
Cook chicken first - remove from heat - then add veggies, sauté and reincorporate

@KaysHealingPath I knew this one!
KaysHealingPath · 36-40, F
@SW-User nice!
Faust76 · 46-50, M
Depends on the brand though. Uncle Ben's, the most popular American & really, western brand comes pre-washed & parboiled. In fact they recommend NOT washing it, because that could wash away some added nutrients etc. If using other brands, check the packaging maybe.
@Faust76 I think you know most about this I think your right you have done enough research on this. the rice i use says nothing on it about it being washed or washing it.

yo, every asian knows you gotta wash that shit because if you don't wash it..it all turns clumpy and weird after it cooks
SW-User
@JarJarBoom I’m Irish/Polish. There was no hope for my rice from the beginning.
Apparently a lot of people are unaware you’re suppose to rinse rice before cooking it the guy I’m currently seeing expected me to not know that you’re suppose to rinse rice before cooking it and I was offended at first, because I thought he was being patronizing, but he explained a lot of his friends were truly unaware that you’re suppose to rinse rice before cooking it so he just assumed a lot of people didn’t know. Although most of his friends are white I think it’s common among white people to not rinse and he’s asian . Rinsing it removes the surface starch.
SW-User
No offense it’s because you’re caucasian. Lol If you don’t it will be a big starchy gluey mess .🤗
SW-User
@SW-User Irish/Polish to be exact.

I discovered this fact at work. Most of the Caucasian non-foodies has no idea you need to wash rice.
SW-User
Im mostly Italian but I’ve been cooking since I was pretty young and kinda taken im young by Spanish people. Now if you season it and add some beans you’ll be hooked up ;)
SW-User
Looool, wtf? I thought this was legit common knowledge
Lol thats the part i dread the most
SW-User
@Dewms the dog was happy.
@SW-User you can keep it in the pot to rinse it. Just run water over it and tilt the pot slightly to release the water so the rice doesn’t fall out and just repeat that action until the water is clear.
@SW-User 😄
gol979 · 41-45, M
And you don't have to prick sausages before cooking them. All that wasted energy 👎
SW-User
@gol979 I thought you do that only before microwaving.
gol979 · 41-45, M
@SW-User microwave sausage?? I've never done that. Doesn't microwaving just vibrate water molecules? Can't cook raw meat? Urgh, I don't know dude......never heard of washing rice and pricked sausages until about 2 years ago lol
KaysHealingPath · 36-40, F
Definitely
I wash until it rinses clear
SW-User
@KaysHealingPath This seems to be a multi-national thing. My other white friends had no idea we had to wash rice.
KaysHealingPath · 36-40, F
@SW-User most white rices contain arsenic and other chemicals used to enrich it
I hear very conflicting things on this, im still not positive your supposed to wash it.
SW-User
Wtf 😂😂😂
SW-User
@SW-User Nope you need to wash it like 5-6 times, till the water is on the clear side
SW-User
@SW-User I’ve heard the clear water thing several times today.

I tried to cover for myself by saying “I don’t wash rice because I like to keep it whole grain.” Nobody believed me.
@SW-User 🙂
