I Don't Like Going to Church

“The primary goal of the modern church is to avoid offense, at whatever cost. And this is precisely why they’re dying. The problem is not merely that they’re boring people. After all, there are those who are bored watching anything that doesn’t involve explosions and car chases. The problem more specifically is that they’re starving people. There is no substance, no meat, in the message being preached. The congregants sit there and slowly starve to death.” ~ Matt Walsh, in “Dear Churches, You’re Killing Yourselves and This Is How”[c=#BF0000] http://bit.ly/2y6HM5r[/c]

Church today is more interested in social and political issues than in spiritual ones. Certainly the current disgrace of a Pope we have now has a lot to do with it, but this trend started much earlier. The Church should be a shelter from the materialistic world we live in.

I wonder 🤔

I think the primary goal of the church is to spread the words and teaching of Jesus Christ.

At some point, church (whichever denomination) became irrelevant.
I suspect much of it was due to the platform of non-involvement throughout modern history.
1.The slave trade. 2. The Holocaust. 3. Its denial of abuse by Monks; Nuns and Priests throughout the course of their teaching or running of childrens homes. As just a few examples.!

Difficult to see how you'd recover from that.
P.S. I am Catholic so I go to Mass for the Eucharist and just endure the mangled liturgy, insipid music and awful sermons (which for some reason Novus Ordo Roman Catholics call "homilies" -- I think it started with Vatican II and has something to do with all this not offending, being nice business)
