I Want To Travel The World

Moving to Germany is a couple months. Really excited and really nervous. I want to travel while there and see different places.

My daughter did her semester abroad in Berlin. She loved it. Travel was easy and affordable. She went to Austria, London, Ireland and Scotland and many other places. My oldest son was stationed in Kaiserslautern for the Air Force. Its a beautiful country. We spent two weeks there. You will have a great time. Most people speak English but its easy to pick up essential communication words if you don't already speak German. Good luck!

Germany is a really beautiful country. There are a lot of castles to see, and historical places. If you like to drink, they have tons of wine and beer fests, and they are a blast to go to. The people tend to be friendly, and helpful, and I think you will like it.

When I was there, you could take wine tasting trips on boats. They would go up and down the Rhine or Neccar (sp) Rivers and stop at the different vineyards so you could taste their different wines. My favorites were the spatlese or sweet wines, if you like a dry wine, then go for the auslese wines. If you get the chance go to Heidelberg, and check out the fort there, and take the tour, it quite awesome. I don't know if they still do it, but on the first and third Saturday's of the month they do a firework show at the fort as well, it is pretty cool to watch from the river on a boat.

Germany is one of my favorite places in the entire world! I would gain 20lbs if I lived there, the food and beer is amazing! And nothing beats Christmas time in Germany! My boss is German, here on a work contract until next year. Can't wait to visit them when they to back. I might even au pair for them. :)

Take advantage of how close different countries are and the railway systems throughout Europe. Very picturesque country sides and lots of culture to take in. I would recommend getting a rail pass and trying to travel at LEAST two weekends a month. What a WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY to be young and able to travel in Europe! Have FUN!!
