I Have Been In An Abusive Relationship

Started thinking about the time when I was 5 months pregnant, attempting to jump out of my abuser’s moving vehicle, on the highway, trying to get away from my abuser, after he threatened and abused me, even if that meant suicide. But he quickly grabbed me before I took that chance.

This happened many many years ago. It’s a sad story with a happy ending, meaning that I survived, which means my baby did too. And I left after having her. It’s remembering things like this, that reminds me of how lucky I am. Yeah, it’s great that he grabbed me, before I jumped. But it’s what led me to feel like I had no other way out. I wanted so badly to leave him, but his words, his threats scared me into staying. Even after having that mindset of “I can change him. He’ll be different after I have the baby.” I had the baby, it still didn’t change him. He became worse, in fact.

I’m writing this to let other victims of domestic violence, to get out. That relationship can not be fixed. It will never get better. They will never love you. They’ll either kill you or you’ll end up killing yourself. Get out, but do it safely. Have a safety plan. Call the hotline, if you have to. Know your abuser. If you are with someone that makes you feel bad about yourself, then you can do better.

I would rather be alone and happy. Than to be in a relationship and be miserable.

Bless you and her. When my son was a year old his dad let me lie in a corner for four days unconscious . I paid the ultimate price to not be hurt. He took my baby .
