I Love Bill Maher

I didn't start watching shows like Real Time with Bill Maher, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Late Night with Seth Meyers and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver until this election year. It became my way of laughing off the unlaughable because if I couldn't laugh at Trump I'd be shitting my pants all the time instead.

Of the four shows, Bill Maher is certainly my favorite political commentator. I'm not fond of some of the people he invites on his panel from time to time like Ann Coulter or, recent controversial guest, Milo Yiannopoulos. But it is rather satisfying to watch him put stubborn-headed facts-denying right wingers in their place.

Maher's kinda all over the place, not my favorite though neither do I strongly dislike him, but I'll definitely agree that comedy seems to be the best way to not just get intensely bitter and/or depressed about the current political situation.

Medicine for the soul, for certain.

oh, love mr. bill!!!
yeah, that deranged woman ann coulter spouted her usual lying b.s. on his show. was funny to see him take it laughing and still complimenting her on being good at what she does...

@deadmoon: of course. he often gets right in their face calling out their b.s. til he sees he needs to back off. is still good that he invites alternate views - got to be tough for those folks being on his show. gotta give them some credit for being in a potentially hostile environment

@Hugable: Tough crowd for them, for sure. But I do believe that having guests like Milo Yiannopoulos takes it a bit too far. In fact, I might even count Ann Coulter in that category. There are people we can disagree with and there are people who should not be given a panel on which to spew their hate on. I wouldn't stop watching Bill Maher over that though. I would just skip out on those particular episodes. We can see the guest list ahead of time. I can decide then if that's an episode I want to see or not depending on who the invited panelists are. And this Friday's episode sounds like it's going to be awesome. Ted Lieu, Ana Navarro and Chelsea Handler? Yes, please!

can understand how uncomfy some of his guests may be for some. but, please, as bill states on occasion, all parties have to be invited to debate a subject - is the only way compromise may be reached. he also states that we shouldn't tailor the news to just what we want to hear about, that leads to one sided thinking. as painful as it may be, we need to hear out the other side, and allow them to hear counter points - call out their bullsh*t

Bill Mahr definitely isn't bad. I think I might prefer him to Jon Stewart or Colber-t. He seems to mirror my personal ideology more so than the bit-too-liberalized Colber-t and Stewart. Haven't heard of Trevor Noah or Seth Meyers.

You know what else he does? He puts Progressives in their place.
He's a realist and that's rare on television.
I'm with you. He's brilliant.
