Do not assume
That I am part of a collective,
That I hold in me
A piece of the evil plan all men share.
My blunt honesty should have taught you by now,
That I do not know how to lie.
What for you defines my gender,
Is as prejudiced as what for my kind define yours.
We are not two species at war,
We are two sides of a same flesh,
And under the surface
We share the same emotions,
The same weaknesses,
The same urges,
The same flaws,
The same needs.
Do not mistake my firmness with violence,
Do not mistake my action with agression,
Do not project on me the failures of others,
I am me,
I am unique,
If you try to fit me in a box
If you try to label me,
You will not understand me.
If you want to know me,
Watch me,
Hear me,
Feel me,
Be patient.
Be aware that what you see,
Is also what you look for.
It says after all, as much about you
As it does about me.
